About Me

I am an experienced writer and editor with strong writing skills in both print and online, copy editing, both features and news reporting, breaking news, finding story ideas, photography, social media management for news, and teamwork.

I have a passion for editing, accuracy, completing stories on tight deadlines, social media usage for news/journalists and am strong in research and leadership skills.

I am currently working at The Casket newspaper in Antigonish, N.S., a small weekly community paper.

I am competent with all platforms of social media, blogging, Windows and Mac computers. Capable of using WordPress, Storify and all Google platforms. Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, several editing and publishing programs, as well as infographics.

I have an elementary French proficiency and strong English communication skills – both oral and written. I have done several freelance pieces at publications throughout the Maritimes and my past work experience includes a summer internship at the Times & Transcript in Moncton, N.B. and an academic internship at Toronto’s Globe and Mail.

My work has also appeared in  Fredericton’s the Daily GleanerHalifax’s Chronicle Herald and the Huffington Post Canada. 

I hold a Bachelor of Journalism (Honours) with Canadian Studies from the University of King’s College. I have also completed a military journalism training course, and studied foreign correspondence journalism in Prague in July 2013.
